TS General Botha ( formally HMS Thames) – sailed from Plymouth into very heavy weather in the Bay of Biscay and was forced to return to Plymouth. After repairs and adequate preparations, she sailed again and experienced an uneventful passage to South Africa. [Refer Renouf report]
